Volume 3, Issue 12 (December 2024) - 3 Articles

This issue presents three research articles that highlight how technology is improving software quality, industrial safety, and healthcare diagnostics. The first article looks at software testing as a social and technical process, showing how teamwork, communication, and standards play key roles in ensuring reliable software. The second study introduces a digital twin for robotic inspection in nuclear plants, allowing safe and accurate testing of hard-to-reach areas using automated ultrasound tools. The third article presents a smart, cloud-based system for diagnosing peripheral artery disease using 3D imaging and machine learning. Together, these studies show how digital tools can create safer, smarter, and more efficient systems for the future.

Abstract: Developing software is a huge job, which is why digital product teams rely on the software development life cycle (SDLC). SDLC is a critical framework for digital product teams, and software testing is its most vital component. Testing evaluates software components to identify properties of interest, detect defects, and ensure alignment with requirements. If not optimized, testing can be costly, and its omission or inadequate execution can lead to software failures, compromising business operations and reputation… Read More

Journal of Engineering Research and Sciences, Volume 3, Issue 12, Page # 14-23, 2024; DOI: 10.55708/js0312002
Abstract: This paper presents the development of the digital twin of an advanced industrial robotic system for pipe wall thickness inspection in the turbine building of nuclear power plants. The robotic inspection system consists of 3 units, the first being the mobile unit, the second a robotic unit for automatic pipe wall thickness measurement using the ultrasound technique, and the third unit for power supply, communication and auxiliary services. To develop the advanced robotic inspection system, a prototype was built in the laboratory to study different situations and geometric configurations that may arise in the field (turbine building).. Journal of Engineering Research and Sciences, Volume 3, Issue 12, Page # 24-35, 2024; DOI: 10.55708/js0312003
Abstract: Peripheral artery disease (PAD) affects 237 million people globally, leading to significant morbidity and mortality. Traditional diagnostic methods are invasive, costly, and require specialized expertise, emphasizing the need for more accessible, and accurate alternatives. This paper introduces the DECODE cloud platform, an advanced tool that leverages cloud computing, machine learning, and high-performance data visualization to enhance PAD diagnosis and treatment. The platform integrates modules for peripheral artery segmentation, reconstruction, and comprehensive data warehousing, supporting 2D and three-dimensional (3D) rendering visualization… Read More
