Agronomy (AGR)
Section Information
Research and practice in agronomy are being used to improve crop productivity, resource use, and resilience in the face of climate and market pressures. Rising input costs, water limits, and soil degradation have created a need for systems that stay efficient, reliable, safe, economical, and robust across diverse environments.
The operation and management of cropping systems require a mix of methods and technologies, including field experiments, remote sensing, proximal sensing, modeling, and decision tools. Information from soils, plants, weather, and management records is needed to understand field status and to optimize yield, quality, nutrient and water use, costs, and risk.
This section will present new contributions, studies, and reviews in agronomy, including cropping systems and agroecology, soil fertility and nutrient management, irrigation and rainfed water management, crop physiology and phenotyping, weed and pest management at field scale, precision and digital agronomy, conservation agriculture, climate adaptation, and evaluation of practices through rigorous field trials and meta-analysis.
