Special Issue Information

The Special Issue on Multidisciplinary Sciences and Advanced Technology invites original research articles, review papers, short communications, and application-focused case studies that connect computing, science, engineering, and technology to address complex problems in industry, healthcare, the environment, energy, infrastructure, education, and society. The issue aims to provide a platform for research that combines theoretical development, analytical methods, experimental validation, system design, and practical deployment across multidisciplinary domains.

This special issue welcomes contributions related to computing foundations, intelligent systems, artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, communication networks, physical and mathematical sciences, materials science, bioengineering, manufacturing, automation, cyber-physical systems, smart infrastructure, sustainable energy, healthcare technologies, industrial applications, and human-centered digital systems. Research may include algorithm development, modeling and simulation, prototype implementation, optimization, applied case studies, review studies, or real-world technology deployment.

The issue is particularly interested in studies that link advanced technologies with practical scientific and engineering applications. Topics may include machine learning, explainable AI, distributed and cloud computing, big data analytics, 5G/6G networks, secure communication, numerical methods, nanotechnology, biomedical signal and image processing, power systems, embedded systems, robotics, IoT platforms, digital twins, smart cities, renewable energy systems, medical decision support, Industry 4.0, logistics optimization, technology-enhanced learning, and ICT for sustainability. Manuscript Submission Overview

Submission Process

Manuscripts should be submitted through the JENRS submission system. All submissions that pass the initial editorial and technical screening are sent for independent external peer review. Accepted papers are published online after acceptance and listed together on the special issue website.

Research articles, review articles, and technical notes are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract of about 250 words may be sent to the Editorial Office for an initial scope check.

  • Authors should follow the JENRS online submission steps and provide complete metadata, author information, keywords, and manuscript files.
  • During online submission, authors should select SI on Multidisciplinary Sciences & Advanced Technology (SI-MSAT 2026) in the Special Issue or Selection field. The figure below may be used as a submission reference.
  • In the cover letter section, the author should specify the special issue topic and any invitation code provided by the Special Issue Editors.

Special issue submission figure

Important Dates
  • Paper Submission Deadline: open until December 31, 2026
  • Acceptance Notification: 4-6 weeks after submission
  • Publication Date: 2 weeks after acceptance

Submitted manuscripts must not have been published previously and must not be under consideration elsewhere, except where a related conference version is fully disclosed and properly extended. Authors should review the Instructions for Authors, Editorial Process, Publication Ethics, Open Access Policy, and Publication Fee pages before submission.

Formatting and Language

For initial submission, JENRS journal formatting is not required. The manuscript should be clear, anonymized for review where requested, and organized using the IMRaD structure where applicable: Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion.

Submitted papers should be written in good English, use SI units where applicable, define abbreviations at first use, and provide enough technical detail for editorial screening and external peer review.

Benefits of Publishing in this Special Issue

  • Focused visibility: accepted papers are grouped under a clearly defined JENRS special issue theme.
  • Easy navigation: readers can access the call, Special Issue Editors, topics, and published papers from one page.
  • Topic-level discoverability: each article remains linked to the special issue page, section page, DOI, PDF, and article metadata.
  • Same journal standards: all submissions follow JENRS editorial screening, independent peer review, publication ethics, and final decision rules.
  • Continuous publication: accepted papers can be published online after acceptance and then listed together under the special issue page.

Special issue submissions follow the same editorial screening, independent peer review, publication ethics, and final decision standards as regular JENRS submissions. Guest Editor involvement does not guarantee acceptance and does not replace independent peer review or final editorial decision-making.

Early Warning for Maritime Storm Formation Using Temporal Autoencoder-Based Anomaly Detection

by Snehashish Srivastava, Haiping Xu, Donghui Yan and Ramprasad Balasubramanian
Journal of Engineering Research and Sciences, Volume 5, Issue 5, Page # 19-39, 2026; DOI: 10.55708/js0505003
Abstract: Storms remain a serious hazard at sea, exposing vessels to rapidly changing conditions that endanger human life and result in substantial economic losses. Satellite-based detection methods are widely used but require significant computational resources and depend on land-to-sea communication links, which may become unreliable during severe weather. Machine learning approaches offer strong potential for early… Read More
