Volume 5, Issue 7 - 2 Articles

This issue brings together two studies addressing emerging challenges in engineering optimization and human-centered technology evaluation. The papers explore adaptive machine learning metamodels for efficient analog integrated circuit optimization and systematic assessment of usability, user experience and accessibility research. They emphasize reducing computational demands in engineering design while strengthening evaluation practices through validated and comprehensive methodologies. Across both areas, the contributions highlight efficiency, methodological rigor, reliability and practical applicability. Collectively, they demonstrate how computational innovation and systematic evaluation can improve engineering design processes and support more inclusive, reliable and effective technological solutions.

Metamodel based Optimization for Analog Integrated Circuits
by Vasile Grosu, Nicolae Patache and Emilian David
Journal of Engineering Research and Sciences, Volume 5, Issue 7, Page # 1-15, 2026; DOI: 10.55708/js0507001
Abstract: In recent times, machine learning applications have become an important component of the analog integrated circuit development cycle. Several phases such as circuit sizing, optimization or pre-silicon verification have benefited from machine learning automation. For developing such machine learning models, a certain amount of training and testing samples needs to be acquired through circuit simulations.… Read More

The State of Usability, User Experience and Accessibility (UAUX) Evaluation: A Systematic Review of 582 Case Studies
by Jose A. Brenes, Hansell Solis-Ramirez, Ignacio Diaz-Oreiro and Gustavo Lopez
Journal of Engineering Research and Sciences, Volume 5, Issue 7, Page # 16-42, 2026; DOI: 10.55708/js0507002
Abstract: The evaluation of usability, user experience, and accessibility (UAUX) has been extensively studied. However, it has often been limited to specific domains with small samples. This paper presents an extensive systematic literature review of 582 case studies published between 2014 and 2023. Our findings confirm the continued dominance of usability with the System Usability Scale… Read More
