Biology (BIO)

Section Information

Biology is the study of living organisms, their structure and function, how they develop, and how they interact with each other and their environments. It spans levels from molecules and cells to organisms, populations, ecosystems, and the biosphere.

Modern biology combines observation and experimentation with molecular tools, imaging, genomics, computation, and modeling. These approaches help explain how life is organized, how traits are inherited, how organisms respond to change, and how biological systems evolve over time.

This section will publish research articles, short communications, and reviews across all major areas of biology, including molecular and cell biology, genetics and development, physiology, microbiology, ecology, evolution, behavior, systems biology, and applied fields that use biological knowledge to address real-world challenges.
