Biomaterials – Materials Science focuses on the design, development, characterization, and application of materials used in medical, biological, and healthcare settings. It examines how materials interact with biological systems and supports advancements in implants, prosthetics, drug delivery, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine.
Modern research in biomaterials includes polymers, metals, ceramics, composites, hydrogels, nanomaterials, and bioactive materials. It also explores surface engineering, biodegradability, biocompatibility, mechanical performance, and the controlled release of therapeutic agents. Innovations in fabrication technologies such as 3D printing, nanotechnology, and biofabrication continue to transform the field.
