Critical Care Medicine (CCM)
Section Information
Critical Care Medicine focuses on the assessment, monitoring, and treatment of patients with life-threatening illnesses and injuries requiring intensive medical support. It integrates advanced physiology, organ support technologies, evidence-based protocols, and multidisciplinary care to stabilize critically ill patients and improve outcomes.
Modern critical care incorporates mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, renal replacement therapy, infection management, sedation strategies, and interventions for shock, sepsis, trauma, and multi-organ failure. Advancements in diagnostics, informatics, biomarkers, and precision medicine continue to transform the field.
This section publishes clinical studies, research articles, reviews, and case reports examining critical care practices, therapeutic innovations, patient safety, performance improvement, and the physiological and technological foundations of intensive care.
