Entomology (ENT)

Section Information

Research and practice in entomology are being used to protect crops, ecosystems, and public health. Changing climates, land use, and trade have increased the movement and impact of insects, mites, and other arthropods. Strong, efficient, safe, economical, and robust solutions are needed in farms, forests, cities, and homes.

The operation and management of insect-related systems require a mix of tools and methods. Field surveys, laboratory studies, modeling, sensing, and diagnostics are used with genetics, chemistry, ecology, and data analysis. Reliable information from fields, storage, natural habitats, and households is needed to understand status and to improve prevention, detection, and control.

This section will present new contributions, studies, and reviews in entomology. Topics include insect biology and diversity, ecology and evolution, pest management and IPM, behavior and chemical ecology, medical and veterinary entomology, pollinators and beneficials, invasive species and biosecurity, molecular and genomic tools, surveillance and modeling, stored-product protection, conservation, and climate impacts.
