Regional and Urban Planning (RUP)

Section Information

Regional and Urban Planning focuses on the development, organization, and management of urban and regional spaces to support sustainable growth, efficient infrastructure, environmental quality, and community well-being. It examines how land use, transportation, housing, public services, and economic development shape the built environment and influence social and environmental outcomes.

Modern research in this field includes spatial planning, urban design, smart cities, transportation systems, environmental planning, regional development strategies, governance frameworks, and resilience planning. Advances in GIS, remote sensing, modeling tools, participatory planning, and sustainability science continue to guide decision-making in urban and regional systems.

This section publishes empirical studies, planning models, policy analyses, case studies, and reviews addressing urban form, regional development, sustainable land use, infrastructure planning, and the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of planning practice.
